Editorial Standards

This page sets out how our articles are produced, who is accountable for them, and what we do when we get something wrong.

Who is responsible

HW is the editor of The Korea Pulse and is accountable for everything published here, including corrections. HW writes under a pen name; correspondence reaches a person, not a form, at the address on our Contact page.

Where our information comes from

We work from primary Korean-language sources: regulatory filings on DART (the Financial Supervisory Service’s disclosure system), releases from government ministries and the Bank of Korea, exchange and index data, and Korean business press reporting.

Every article lists its sources at the foot of the page. If a claim rests on a single source, we say so rather than presenting it as settled.

What we do and do not do

• We do not translate or republish any single source article. Every piece is written from several sources at once, and the analysis — what the facts mean together — is ours.
• We distinguish record from interpretation. Where a reading of the facts is our inference rather than something a source establishes, the text says so explicitly.
• We do not report figures we cannot trace to a named source or filing.
• We do not accept payment for coverage, and we do not publish sponsored posts.

How AI is used

We use AI-assisted drafting tools as part of production. This is disclosed rather than hidden, and it is bounded:

• A human editor reviews and approves every article before it is published. Nothing publishes automatically.
• Approval is a recorded step, not a formality — each article is reviewed as a specific change that is either accepted or rejected.
• Drafting assistance does not extend to sourcing: the source list for each article is derived from the filings and releases the piece is built on.

Corrections

If an article contains an error, tell us at the address on our Contact page and we will look at it.

• Factual errors are corrected in place, and the correction is noted on the article.
• Errors that change the meaning of a piece are corrected with an explicit note at the foot of the article stating what was wrong and when it was fixed.
• We do not quietly delete articles to make errors disappear. If a piece cannot be corrected, it is withdrawn with a note explaining why.

Independence

The Korea Pulse is independent and self-funded. It is not owned by, and does not act on behalf of, any company or institution it covers.
